Damage inflicted on citizens of Ukraine must be recovered from the aggressor, i.e. the Russian Federation

Eligibility criteria

We offer free-of-charge legal assistance.

Citizens who have the right to receive compensation for moral and material damages:

  • Immediate relatives of victims of military activities – target compensation from € 60,000 per family member;
  • Military personnel and civilians who sustained physical or psychological injuries – target compensation from €20,000 (minor injuries) + disability compensation + treatment and rehabilitation expenses;
  • Military personnel who suffered from captivity – target compensation from €20,000;
  • Civilians who suffered from illegal detention – target compensation from €20,000;
  • Internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the occupied territories of Crimea, Sevastopol, and Donbass – target compensation from €35,000 + compensation for property loss;
  • Citizens who lost private property – target compensation depending on value of property lost.

Citizens who have the right to receive compensation for moral damages:

  • Veterans – target compensation from €10 thousand;
  • Residents of the Antiterrorist Operation/Joint Forces Operation zone – target compensation from €5 thousand;
  • Residents of the temporarily occupied territories – target compensation from €5 thousand;
  • All citizens of Ukraine who are emotionally distressed as a result of the RF military aggression – target compensation from €3 thousand.

Residents of the temporarily occupied territories will be provided with an opportunity to apply as soon as Crimea and Donbas are deoccupied.

Roadmap to Compensation

Visit to a Regional Office
To start the process, applicants should visit the nearest regional office and provide a set of documents supporting their claim. Specific list for required documents depends on their status and nature of their claim. Please make a pre-appointment call.

Preparing a Legal Claim
Based on the set of documents provided and your proxy, we will prepare the claim.

Establishing a Legal Fact
On this stage, the court establishes the legal fact of losses inflicted by the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and occupation of part of our country’s territory.

Calculating Damages
Moral damages are calculated based on the practice of the European Court of Human Rights. Material damages are defined based on factual circumstances and expenditure on damages inflicted.

Bringing the claim to court
On this stage, a court ruling on reimbursement of losses by the liable party, i.e. the Russian Federation, is received in favour of the applicant.

Enforcement of Judgement
In case of refusal by the aggressor state to comply with court judgment in respect of payment of compensation, Sila Prava will launch enforcement procedures against property of the Russian Federation in Ukraine and worldwide.
